Thai Herb for Thai Elephant

Elephants are the largest mammal. Three living species are currently categorized: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. In Thailand Asian elephants are normally inhabited around 4,435 (domestic elephant) and 4,422 (wild elephant). They help other species in many ways such as digging soil to make water source, and distribution seed with their dung. Elephants consume only cereals and water. Their food can be divided into 6 groups including grasses, bamboos, creepers and ficus, perennial plant, cultivated crops, and salt licks.

Furthermore Thai herbs have been usually applied for elephants by their mahout. The examples of these Thai herbs are:

1)     Turmeric  

It should be used for flatulence and diarrhea symptom.

2)     Tamarind

It should be acted as laxative for elephants.

3)     Indian gooseberry

It should be used to relieve diarrhea.

4)     Wax gourd

It should be used for flatulence.

5)     Coconut

It should be used to improve the strength for elephant.

6)     Sensitive plant

It should be used to relieve inflammation.

7)     Mulberry

It should be used to increase the strength for elephant.

8)     Betel nut

It should be used to reduce stress and depression in elephant.

          Therefore it could be said that Thai herbs can be acted as natural medicine to improve strength and/or reduce bad symptom for elephants.
